Amman, Aug. 19 (Petra) -- The national esports football team begins the second round of the continental qualifiers for the FIFAe World Cup 2026 on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the eFootball Console competition, Jordan will compete alongside Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Syria, Japan, and Lebanon.

In eFootball Mobile, Jordan will face Thailand, India, Japan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar. In Rocket League, the team will compete alongside Australia, Oman, India, the Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Qatar.

The continental tournament is being held in Kuala Lumpur from Aug. 19 to 24. In eFootball Console and Rocket League, the teams finishing first and second will qualify directly for the FIFAe 2026 World Cup. The two semifinal losers will meet in a playoff, with the winner facing New Zealand for the third qualifying spot.

In eFootball Mobile, the top three teams will qualify directly for the FIFAe World Cup 2026, while the fourth-placed team will face New Zealand in a playoff for the fourth qualifying spot.

The Jordan Football Association announced the formation of the Jordanian eFootball national team in cooperation with the Jordan Esports Federation following a series of steps that included holding workshops and cooperating with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation.

The team previously competed in the inaugural Asian Esports Cup, held alongside the 2023 continental tournament in Doha, and the fifth West Asia Championship in Amman in 2024. It also participated in the FIFAe World Cup 2025 finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
